Similar to meditation, gong sound baths can help to relieve high blood pressure, stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia and chronic pain. Participants are usually lying down (fully clothed!) on yoga mats with blankets and a pillow to be warm and comfortable. The gong is played softly to begin with and as the sound journey progresses, the sound waves build to fill the space and travel over and through the body promoting many therapeutic benefits.
A Gong Bath is a deeply relaxing and peaceful experience. The soundwaves very quickly drop you into a meditative state - think meditation without the effort! It can have a clearing effect on any emotional issues, breaking up limiting and negative thought patterns, and as a result, is an excellent therapy option for stress-related issues, such as depression and anxiety. My chosen gong is the deeply hypnotic Chiron. Chiron is the wounded Healer, accessing our deepest wounds on every level and using its pinpoint decisive healing vibrations to highlight the major and most urgent issues in our physical and emotional bodies. Chiron is a true maverick energy and one that constantly changes to suit your needs.
Gong baths are held in Weymouth, Dorchester and throughout Dorset. Also available for private bookings.
A few comments from my recent gong baths:
"A truly relaxing experience, I didn't want it to end! Also amazing that I didn't think about life at all, as I usually do when trying to go to sleep. I would totally recommend this to anyone who asks."
"Thanks Caroline - what a powerful session that was! Will be very interesting to see what the next experience will be like."
"It was good fun....loved the noisy bits especially."
GET READY:
Lie down and make yourself comfortable. Make sure you will be warm and undisturbed for the session. Have some water on hand.
Begin by taking a few deep breaths to settle yourself down and come into the present moment. Just allow yourself to drift along during the Gong Bath. Use your breath as a focus if you want to or set an intention such as: “I choose to release stress and breathe in calm.”
Afterwards, lie still for a while as the sound healing continues to affect your cells. Drink plenty of water and be gentle with yourself. The energy of the Gong and the Crystal Bowls will continue to do its work long after the session has ended.
Contraindications: pacemakers, epilepsy, severe psychological disorders, pregnancy.
